Cousin's visit from California

Cousin Bruce and Pat at the Veranda's Restaurant.
Pat and Bruce, and their friends the Moody's that
they have known from Minnesota.

More of the same....
John's cousins came from California to visit their friends the Moody's. I believe their names were Pam and Gene???? (Memory is going...) They have a place here in Ft. Myers and they are good friends with Pat and Bruce. We were happy they called us. They wanted to go see our site where the house is being built and we took them around the grounds of the Verandah's and then took them to the country club there for lunch. It was really a nice time.
John went back home for a week to work some kinks out at the company and Jackie is coming down to visit her mom for 5 days and I am excited. She will be here at 11:30 pm on Monday the 23rd and will stay until Friday. We will have a great time.
Later.....

The Caloosahatchee River

Sun showing through the clouds.l
Sunset on the river.
Just before sunset.
Dick, Jim and I on the top deck.

Jerry...owner of the boat. He and his wife Christine
are from Bowling Green, KY
John was actually driving the boat and
Jerry got to rest.

Peggy, Susan, and Christine.

Susan and Jim also from Bowling Green, KY
It was a beautiful day on the river. There were 8 of us. I forgot to tell you that Dick and Peggy are from the Detroit, MI area...I think Bloomfield Hills.
We just boated for about 7 hours...including the hour we spent in the slip at another couples boat.
We took snacks and of course, plenty to drink. It was really fun.

The Bronze Medal

On the medal stand with my partner on my left
and the gold winner on my right.
Yes, it is a slow day for news but we had the closing ceremony for the RiverBend Olympics last night. My partner Annie and I won the bronze medal in ladies pool. There were 21 women entered in this sport.
Other than that we have kept quite busy making decisions on our new house. If you have ever built a house...it is overwhelming at best. We are just taking it a day at a time and knocking the list down every day. I think it is fun because I wanted a chance to do this one last time...they way I want it (price also being a factor). I believe they will pour the slab this week, because they got the plumbing and electrical laid on the ground the other day.
We are going out on the Caloosahatchee River this afternoon with 3 other couples. Gerry and Kristine have their boat here so we were lucky enough to be invited. I will try to get pictures today for the blog.
This is all for now, but hopefully tomorrow I will have more pictures.

"Corn in the Hole" and Sanibel Island

John's turn for Corn in the Hole.
Kathy's turn for Corn in the Hole. We
were both eliminated in the first round!

Ed, Ruth, Ella, me and Ella's girlfriend (far left)
her name escapes me.
Ruth and Ed Ricci
Saturday morning we participated in Corn in the Hold here in RiverBend. John and I were both eliminated on the first round. It was fun to watch tho....then I also played a little shuffleboard while we were waiting for the other game to finish. It reminded me of when I was little at grandma and grandpa's in Central Lake, Mi. when we kids would take their shuffleboard equipment and go and play for hours!
In the afternoon we decided to house clean the coach. We had the door open, going back and forth shaking rugs etc...when I got a phone call from someone in the park saying that Kate had escaped and was at their site!!!! I freaked!! She was off hunting and visiting. Thank God I had my phone nbr on her tag. Quite the excitement.
I also got a phone call from Ruth Ricci inviting us out to Sanibel for dinner. Ella, their granddaughter was coming to visit and Ella wanted to see us too. I had talked to Ella the weekend before so knew she was coming. It was nice to go to Sanibel...it holds a lot of memories for us from all the years we went there. We had an excellent dinner...naturally...Italian pasta and little riblets, salad, and key lime pie! It was good!
We got home around 9:30...we couldn't leave the dogs too much longer...but were tired from being outside most of the day.
John and I had a tennis match this am (Sunday) at 0800. We lost that in the first round too! Actually, we beat ourselves...but for only having played about 3 times in the last year....it was OK. All the people we played were pretty good. Was good to get out in the brisk air...and I mean brisk...47 degrees! I washed the car with some new stuff we got that doesn't require water and John helped clean up my missed spots. I am going up to the clubhouse with my neighbor Sue to take a couple pool lessons before the play offs next Thursday. (I actually won in the first round on that!) I plan to make chili later and we will probably just chill and watch the game.
Go Steelers/Arizona!!!! Whoever, I don't care.

Don't know why this picture ended up here...
not ever very good!
