November 6, 2008 Williams, Arizona South Rim of the Grand Canyon

Diner in downtown Williams, AZ
Getting ready for our walk downtown.

On our "site" at the campground.

The famous Route 66.
My new friend!!!
It took us 6 hours to drive from Santa Fe to Williams. We haven't been sleeping very well due to too much on our minds, so got up early and took off. We also beat some of the stronger winds by getting an earlier start.
Got here and got our train tickets for tomorrow. We are taking a train to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. We are going Luxury Class on the way to the Grand Canyon and First class on the way back...(luxury was full :) ) We see an old fashion gun shoot out at 9:30 and load the train at 10:00. We don't get home until 5 or 5:30. I believe we get 2-3 hours at the Canyon.
Should be fun.
We shopped around a bit and then ate dinner in tonight.
We'd like to congratulate Jackie and Brady, they bought their first new home in Hastings. They just heard today that their "counter offer" was accepted. We welcome them to the "pour more money on the house" club!!!
All is well.

Yikes, I fell behind. I just spent about 20 minutes catching up on your travels. Sounds like you are having a fun adventure. Also saw that you were reading a lot so thought I'd recommend my new favorite book. It's called "Same Kind of Different as Me" and is the true story of a homeless man, who was virtually a slave and an international art dealer, and how they became friends. It's an easy read, though there is one part that'll have you sobbing so you know, don't read it in public. :-) Have a fun trip. I'll try to keep up!

Congrats to Jacki and Brady for buying their first home! Welcome to the fun of owning a home, no matter what, it is so worth it.
