Wednesday November 5, 2008

I took this out the window of the car while we
were downtown this am...it was snowing and very
blizzard like!

This is downtown Santa Fe, just giving you
a feel for the architecture.

More downtown.

In an area of a lot of art studios.

Model home we toured, 1700 square ft.
no yard, 2 bdrms for 670,000.00!!!!

Note the snow falling in the background.

By the time we were heading home the sun came out,
but the wind here is unreal!!!

We had a leisurely morning, John has some pretty hard decisions to make concerning the company, so he used the morning for that. When we headed out it started snowing!! It wasn't just a little snow, it was like a blizzard blowing like mad. We ducked into a coffee shop until it settled down...and it did fairly quickly. We shopped around probably 2 hours. Saw mostly all art studios and jewelry stores. It's hard to believe the area can support THAT many art studios and jewelry stores. It is all pretty upscale...I saw a beautiful turquoise bowl about 15 inched in diameter for 3,000.00 and a pretty amber bowl for the same. I know, I should have bought 2 of them!!!! We then drove around a bit and then found a little restaurant to have Mexican food for lunch. The thing that strikes me the most is how ALL the architecture is the same..stucco, or adobe and brown. Not much variation at all.

We came upon this house development, and as you can see it is the same, brown etc...and this was a house for 1700 sq ft for 670,000.00. NOW, what is wrong with this picture...20 acres, tennis court, indoor pool, 3 bedrooms etc...VS 1700 sq ft 2 bdrm. Ours is only 20,000.00 more!!! We must be doing something wrong. Oh well, it is what it is.
On our way home the sun came out buy the wind is really vicious. I think the last time I saw wind this strong was in Glacier.
We are going to dinner later and tomorrow we head form William, AZ and are going to take a train around the south rim of the Grand Canyon.
.
PS. I'd like to congratulate Jane Bracken for her "Teacher of the Year" award in Cannon Falls.
Job well done! Does that mean you get a raise?
Also, I'd like to say to Holly that I am thrilled for your new prognosis and will be routing for you.
